The St. Louis, MO Chapter of The Well Armed Woman (TWAW-STL) is educating, equipping and empowering women in the St. Louis region! Our chapter welcomes shooters of all skill levels - brand new shooters and experienced shooters - and is an amazing group of ladies from ages 21 to 70+. We meet once a month for classroom time (with great information, discussions and informative speakers!), range time and an optional pre-meeting dinner meetup (purchase food individually in the range's restaurant and either eat on the patio in nice weather or in inclement weather bring downstairs to eat together, socially distanced).
We have a robust online presence with our secret Facebook page for member-only discussions. This is a great place to interact with other ladies in a safe environment with great discussions on all things related to your journey with firearms!
We will keep this website up-to-date with all meeting plans and changes!
You're welcome to attend your first in-person meeting for the pre-meeting dinner meetup and classroom portion of our meeting, with no obligation. If you would like to keep coming back, please join The Well Armed Woman St. Louis Chapter. Please RSVP for each meeting to firstname.lastname@example.org or via the monthly meeting pinned post / announcement on our "secret" Facebook members-only page.
We have an awesome host range - SharpShooter's Indoor Shooting Range! Our meetings are the first Wednesday of every month (unless noted otherwise below). Watch our Facebook pages too for more info. If a meeting date changes or is cancelled, it will be posted on this website and on our Facebook public page and private group page.
Our next chapter meeting is Wed., Sept. 1! During the classroom portion of our meeting, we will discuss TWAW updates from the Leadership Conference and also have a total participation discussion: Self Defense Scenarios - What Would You Do? (The latter is a continuation from last time and the ladies *really* loved it!)
Please be sure to fill out the new online annual "hold harmless" form online prior to attending the meeting HERE. Thanks!
(Future topics on deck for 2021 include Conceal Carry Holster Selection...and more, so stay tuned! Upcoming 2021 meetings are the 1st Wednesdays of the month - Sept. 1, Oct. 6, Nov. 3 and Dec. 1. Our December meeting is our annual Christmas /Holiday Party.)
TWAW requires us to follow all local rules *and* CDC guidance. Though St. Louis County rules are currently in the courts, TWAW also requires us to follow CDC guidance, which is beyond what the range requires. CDC guidance still is that unvaccinated wear masks AND also new for the vaccinated "To maximize protection from the Delta variant and prevent possibly spreading it to others, wear a mask indoors in public if you are in an area of substantial or high transmission." St. Louis County IS considered a high transmission area for the Delta variant. So we ask that you please wear masks as you are up and about when you are with our group (like we had been before). https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/communication/guidance.html and https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#county-view
The rules and guidance keep shifting as the covid situation remains fluid, and we thank you for your infinite patience. Some ladies will likely be vaccinated and some ladies will likely not be, and we want to remain respectful of each other, including of our RSOs on the shooting line. Your CLI is at high risk for covid due to immune related issues and will be wearing a mask and socially distancing. Hand sanitizer is still golden. (We will have some available, and you're also welcome to bring your own.)
If you are feeling under the weather for any reason, you still will need to stay home. If a member arrives showing any symptoms of being sick, we will ask them to go home. We recognize that allergies are a big part of some people’s lives, and this can mimic colds! Just use good judgment. If you have to sneeze or cough, even if wearing a mask, please do that into your elbow. Hand sanitizer is still golden. (We will have some available, and you're also welcome to bring your own.)
Reminder to pre-load your mags, as mags may only be loaded within a lane on the range. Bring your own ammo if you can (if you’re shooting your own gun) due to possible shortages. No steel-cased ammo.
Meeting night schedule:
Sign in for our meetings is from 6:15-6:30 p.m. on meeting night in the classroom. Range staff will direct you to the classroom. We start with classroom time at 6:30 p.m., followed by an hour of range time. Our members-only educational meetings (aka classroom time) are free, and then range fees apply for the shooting portion of our meeting. Range time for our meetings is $10 per shooter (plus costs for any targets, ammunition, gun rental, etc.; eye and ear protection are required). Please be advised that ammunition is scarce including at our host range, so if you can bring your own ammo just in case, that's awesome. If renting a firearm from the range, you must purchase your ammunition from the range. Our meeting nights end by 9 p.m.
We also have an optional pre-meeting dinner at 5:15 p.m. - purchase your food at the range's SharpShoot Pit and Grill and then if it's nice, we'll eat outside on the Grill's patio, but if it's raining / rain is coming or it's too hot / humid, just come downstairs to our meeting room to dine together - socially distanced!
Reminder - please be sure to fill out the new annual "hold harmless" form online prior to attending your first meeting of the year HERE.
You are welcome to attend your first meeting (classroom time and optional pre-meeting dinner only) to try it out before joining our chapter. Once you join our TWAW-St. Louis chapter, you will be able to shoot with us during the range time at our meetings. You will also be added to our "secret" Facebook group page for private discussions with all of our members. Also, we provide added details about meetings on that secret group page.
Our first meeting as a chapter was in March 2013. We were the 14th TWAW chapter created in the country, the first TWAW chapter in Missouri, and we have reached more and more women every month. We celebrated our 8th Anniversary as a Chapter in March 2021! Time flies when you’re having fun!
Our TWAW Chapter Leader Instructor Sheri Bilderback is certified as a NRA Pistol Instructor, Refuse to be a Victim Instructor and Chief Range Safety Officer, and passed her TWAW Instructional Standards Development Assessment required of all CLI's with a 100% score. She is also a Certified Life Coach.
As of October 2020, we have a second Chapter Leader! Yay! Congratulations and many thanks to long-time member Sandy! These are exciting times for our chapter, as despite covid, we continue to grow and flourish as a chapter with our amazing ladies, a growing membership and our fabulous host range!
We look forward to having you join us on your firearms journey and look forward to meeting you!
