What to Expect
Join the TWAW Tri-State Chapter and Hammer Down Range for a half-day of presentation, discussion and role-playing the many facets of self-defense with a firearm.
Classroom content presented by Hammer Down Range will focus on the dynamics of encounters including:
- Physical and psychological changes before, during and after an encounter
- Controlling an encounter
- Mental awareness levels
- Perceptual changes during a threatening encounter
- Indentifying your target and what’s beyond
Range portion facilited by Hammer Down Range and will consist of “soft” force-on-force scenarios, focused on preparing women for what they may expect in a defensive situation, both in and outside of the home.
The range portion is NOT live fire and is NOT hands on. It’s role-playing. Training pistols such as laser pistols and plastic blue guns will be used.
When & Where
Sunday, March 24th from 1:00pm until 4:30pm. We will start promptly at 1:00pm.
Please arrive 30 mintues prior to:
- Check in
- Obtain a range card (if you do not already have one)
- Take a seat in the classroom and settle in
What to Bring & What NOT to Bring
Bring something with you to take notes. Bottled water and a light snack will be provided. Feel free to bring your own preferred non-alcoholic beverage and snack.
DO NOT BRING A FIREARM OR LIVE AMMUNITION!!
Firearms and live ammo are NOT permitted in the classroom. No exceptions.
Firearms and live ammo are NOT permitted on the range during scenarios. No exceptions.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
***All participants will be patted down by a female Goshen Police Officer before entering the classroom, to ensure no firearms or other weapons of any kind (knives, stun guns, kubotans, etc.) are on your person.***
This ensures the safety of all participants and staff.
No exceptions will be made. Period.
Please do not register for this event if you are uncomfortable with this safety procedure and/or you are uncomfortable with the no firearm, no live ammo policies.
Those who have not been cleared by the Goshen officer will not be permitted to participate in the classroom or range portion.
Concealed carry firearms and range bags should be kept in a secure spot in your vehicle, or they can be stored inside Hammer Down Range.
Firearms of any kind are NOT permitted in the classroom or on the range at anytime during the workshop.
All participants will be required to sign Hold Harmless documents for TWAW Shooting Chapters and Hammer Down Range when checking in the day of the event.
Who Can Participate
This workshop is open to women only who are at least 21 years of age. You do not have to be a member of TWAW Shooting Chapters to participate.
Space is limited to a total of 20 participants.
This event is a fundraiser for TWAW Tri-State Chapter with 100% of the proceeds going directly to this chapter.
TWAW Shooting Chapters is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the mission to expand the world of firearms to women across the country in a safe, non-threating way with the purpose of Educating, Equipping and Empowering women shooters.
