TWAW Shooting Chapter launches in Baxter

February 07, 2018

A local branch of The Well Armed Woman Shooting Chapters has been launched in Baxter.

TWAW Baxter MN Shooting Chapter will give women of all experience levels the opportunity to be introduced to issues important to women shooters, learn safe gun handling skills and train together.

The Baxter chapter is being spearheaded by Joan Dee Peterson, a local female gun enthusiast. Events will be held monthly and are open to all women, 21 years or older that may legally possess firearms. TWAW Shooting Chapters has partnered with Bill’s Gun Shop & Range Brainerd to be the host for these monthly events. Time will be devoted to discussion and classroom education as well as time on the range and practicing safe gun handling skills at each monthly event.

The first meeting of the Baxter chapter will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Feb. 20 at Bill’s Gun Shop & Range Brainerd. The first meeting is free and there will be no shooting. All other monthly meetings will be held on the third Tuesday of each month and shooting will be open to TWAW member only.

Participants will be required to pay $20 range fees and costs of ammunition and firearm rentals. Annual chapter membership dues of $50 offer members local and national discounts, chapter hat and member kit and is used to cover chapter expenses, insurance and events. First-time attendees are not required to join.
